Beatbox meets jazz, meets classical: an unlikely though pleasingly successful fusion of Finnish and Australian musicians. Felix Zenger’s solo beatbox takes the genre in a new direction, more melodic than the usual assertive hip hop beat. When combined with the jazz orchestrations of Tuomo Prättälä and Tilman Robinson the resultant outpourings move smoothly from apparent improvisation to classical string and brass, overlaid with Tuomo’s searching lyrics. A surprising and rewarding musical treat.
