Radio and Juliet (1.5/5)

Radio and Juliet (1.5/5.0)
West Australian Ballet
Quarry Amphitheatre, Perth
Wednesday 12th February 2014

Epic Fail; choreography: Lucas Jervies
Mona Lisa; choreography: Itzik Galili
The Sofa; choreography: Itzik Galili
Radio and Juliet; choreography: Edward Clug

Epic Fail did indeed fail, a poor Strictly Ballroom pastiche without the dancing. The pas de deux Mona Lisa started well, then he dropped her and she lost confidence. A threesome leaping around on The Sofa? Circus not dance let alone ballet. In the headline piece Juliet lived and took to Radiohead - it almost worked. The men were good though the moves owed a lot to West Side Story, the real story seemed under-developed. Juliet still died, so was worth it in the end? Not really.
