Paramodelic-graffiti & The Tenth Sentiment (4.5/0)

Paramodelic graffiti (Yasuhiko Hayashi, Yusuke Nakano))
Tenth Sentiment (Ryota Kuwakubo)

John Curtin Gallery, Perth
Wednesday 12th February 2014

A giant train-set (Paramdelic) on the walls, on the ceiling, on the floor - a maze, a mosaic, a printed circuit, someones brain?  This immersive blue-on-white train track has an amazingly absorbing yet soothing impact on the viewer.  Somehow recognisable, yet always something interesting around the next piece of curved track.  And, you get to have you a go yourself in 30 minutes of chaotic fun with whoever's in the gallery, kids or grown-ups.  Next door, Kuwakubo has built a railway in the dark and an array of household objects.  An engine with a single light travels the track and in the silhouettes an evolving cityscape emerges as we are taken on a journey through space and time - breathtaking.
