Every morning each guest receives a call from the on-site nursing team. The queries are a little perfunctory though well meant. It’s a nice touch, though I wonder if anyone has actually read my replies to the medical questions on the pre-travel questionnaire. It would be very easy to feel forgotten about especially when we are in isolation because of a health crisis. Whether or not we have Covid-19 the testing will reveal, meanwhile living alone in one room for 14 days could create its own set of health problems.
In my chat with the nurse I reported headaches every night, which prompted a very thorough response. First, a detailed set of questions: was I having dizzy spells, see flashing lights, feeling weak, did I have a sore throat, temperature etc etc. A little later a policeman came knocking at my door to ask me to make sure my phone was properly hung-up because the doctor was trying to call me. Having put that right the doctor called and we went through a similar set of questions. We concluded that the headaches are probably caused by the air conditioning and a lack of fresh air. It is agreed that I will try various settings and hang damp towels overnight to try and improve the indoor air quality. Lastly, the Covid testing team arrived and poked my nose again.
It is consoling to know that whilst we alone in our confinement there is a team out there looking after us.
