Pressure (4.0/5)

Haigh builds an engaging story from a single, critical, element of the D-Day landings - weather. Eisenhower needs good weather, his Scottish and American forecasters cannot agree; scientific observation is pitched against past precedence. The doughty Scot wins, twice, calculating calamitous storms then acknowledging new data opts for calm. Around the weather swirl the main protagonists’ personal burdens adding spice and filling the gap between decision and invasion but making for a slightly long finale.
