A genuine black comedy, very tense with incisive moments of drama. 'The Party' feels more like a stage play than a film, just seven people, a cabal of politicians and philosophers, at a party closely observed as a their lives fall apart, Shot in b/w and real time; the sharp, intelligent dialogue and bursts of passion gallop along to the dramatic ending - not a moment wasted, not a moment too long.
