A delightful Christmas ballet with a particularly strong first act in which the traditional party scene is enlivened with delightful performances from a corp of young dancers. This does tend to show up the principals and the second act’s national dances are little lame in comparison. The sets and costumes strike a pleasing balance between tradition and glitz. A joyful production, just lacking the final sparkle to be truly magical, nonetheless good quality seasonal entertainment.
