MacKay, Mays and Spall deliver three distinct takes on the isolated soul: loner, lost boy and road-weary rogue. They, like the story, are going nowhere though Pinter with his sharp repartee, monologues and pauses always suggests something might happen. Uncertain at first - Spall's noisy Davies over-powering a hesitant Mays. The loud and confident Mike brings Act I to a cliff-hanger close with his razor sharp "What's the game?", nicely setting-up the following drama.
