After two dire decades London once more buzzes; more buildings than most countries in Phaidon’s “Atlas of C21st World Architecture”, old and new sitting comfortably side-by-side. The Shard stands elegantly to attention, though the more central London Eye has better views. Nearby HMS Belfast is a poignant reminder of another age, this being D-Day. The Novotel Paddington is comfortable, located in tranquil Little Venice, a 5km canal-side stroll from Regents Park.
