Benched (3.5/5)
a small park in suburban Perth
Sunday 23rd February 2014
Choreographed & performed by: Martin del Amo and Julie-Anne Long
Under the early evening sun Long and del Amo perform simultaneous, inter-twined, solo pieces. Walking to the park bench in single and double-time respectively they move through postures drawn from observing people watching TV. The charm lies in Benched's simplicity and setting. Each pose tells a thousand tales: the luxury of solitude, the workings of a well-worn couple, the companionship of an endearing partnership, and revealing when recognising one's self. Afterwards cast and audience chatted and shared refreshments - nice.
