Surviving Progress (2.5/5)
Australian Centre for the Moving Image
14th July 2012
Mathieu Roy (Director)
Adapted from "A Short History of Progress" by Ronald Wright (2004)
A range of experts discuss the unsustainable burden placed on Nature's systems by the runaway growth of human demand and concentration of wealth and power in too few hands. Visually stunning for a largely talking head doco and quite disturbing in the picture painted. With little evidence offered in support of the underlying thesis only the converted will find this film informative. Consequently, the value of Surviving Progress is greatly diminished.
Art and About: a personal blog comprising "On Show" arts reviews (all in 75 words or less) and travel diaries. I write about what matters to me. The Arts matter because they offer joy and sadness, thrills and insights. Travel matters because like the Arts it broadens the mind and soul with new experiences.
