It’s frustrating to find such disparity in a double-bill. In Tilted Fawn a sound scape emerges from shoe box sized containers that Lane proceeds to rearrange around an otherwise empty floor. On a few rare occasions sound and disposition align to evoke an emotional response otherwise this piece is as empty as the stage on which it is performed. Whereas, Black Project 1 is an extraordinary fusion of sound, projection and hip-hop inspired movement. On an all grey set the frantically moving performers expose graffiti of white static that is both organic and industrial. Tilted Fawn was tiresome, Black Project 1 tires one with an intensity that is totally absorbing.
