Construct (3/5)
Tanja Liedtke, Sydney Festival
Riveside Theatres, Parramatta, 17th January 2008
A light yet thoughtful dance/movement piece exploring the construction of family and the family home. A humorous pastiche of those DIY lifestyle programs. There was much to applaud – the use of a power-drill to control the dancers (Geppetto and Pinocchio?), tender finger play between two dancers, the joyful weaving of arms and bodies and a witty death scene. And then it went somewhere darker. It should be enough to be happy and have fun.
