Intense, dark and dramatic, Akram Kahn’s interpretation of the Gilgamesh myth has a powerful Game of Thrones feel. Innovative use of dance traditions, age and physique gives the six performers powerful individual personalities, though programme notes would have been useful to explain the narrative. A stark, dark, stage lit simply yet dramatically and a powerful, at times driving, contemporary score create an ominous platform for a sophisticated dance piece by a master choreographer.
