The Giants conquered Perth. Friday’s hesitant preamble followed by a big Saturday Parade and a carnival spectacular on Sunday preceded by an ANZAC tribute. PIAF, criticised for boasting The Giants would attract hundreds of thousands, were proved right. In which case, why a PA facing one way and no big screen for the ANZAC tribute? Nonetheless it was a thrill to see these giant puppets and their hardworking puppeteers in a colourful and noisy pageant.
