Eastwood rarely puts a foot wrong from cast to cinematography to score. American Sniper is as impeccable as any of his vast legacy. Yet, there is a tinge of disappointment in a film that portrays an American hero, only suggests the troubles veterans face and touches the juxpostion of sniper Kyle and his insurgent counterpart. This otherwise excellent film needs a partner as in Flags of our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima. The audience departed in respectful silence.
