Afghanistan: hidden treasures from the National Museum, Kabul (2.5/5)

Interesting and beautiful though these exhibits are there is an annoying lack of confidence in the interpretation.  What is the story?  The treasures' survival or its cross-cultural heritage?  The Silk Road or the Afghan story?  Each narrative is touched upon, yet never explored.  It would be informative, for example, to see the pieces beside items from the absorbed cultures.  Or, to explore the Taliban relationship.  This fine collection of gold, ceramic, glass and other works of art deserves better - as does Afghanistan's centuries old pivotal position in east-west relationships.

Footnote: I detest the use of "common era", the years are still counted from the birth of Christ so why not call it for what it is BC and AD.
