Driving Miss Daisy (5/5.0)
Theatre Royal
Saturday 30th March 2013
By: Alfred Uhry
Cast: Angela Lansbury [Miss Daisy Werthan], James Earl Jones [Hoke Coleburn], Boyd Gaines [Boolie Werthan]
A subtly, absorbing production in which every word and gesture counts in the hands of two theatrical stalwarts. Set against the civil rights era of the 50's & 60's Uhry uses the unavoidable truth of old age to illustrate the frailties of prejudice in the characters of an ageing rich Jew and her black chauffeur - perfectly portrayed by Lansbury and Earl Jones, and Gaines as the son who brings them together and represents the fast changing world.

The Arts matter because they offer joy and sadness, thrills and insights. Travel matters because like the Arts it broadens the mind and soul with new experiences.
