VANCOUVER WINTER OLYMPICS DAY 12 (Tuesday 23 Feb)

Downtown Vancouver c/w Olympic Flame

These past two days have been a bit of wind-down after all the exciting exertions out at Whistler. A bit of gentle shopping and culture whilst strolling through the Gas Town district with its fine early brick-built frontages. A sort of high-end Granville Island supplemented by side-street fashion designers, though somewhat compromised by lots of tourist knick-knack shops. Surprisingly quiet compare to the central CBD around Robson Street, though the returning rain may account for this.

A final evening of indulgence before we head to YVR and NY in the morning. We return to the Terminal City Club for another pre-show fine dining experience. Then onto the brand new Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, a tremendous asset for Vancouver and its host the Contemporary Arts Department at Simon Fraser University. On show is one of Canada’s creative geniuses Robert Lepage presenting a new work “Blue Dragon”. An absorbing story of love, childlessness and the emergence of China onto the world scene. Delightful to end our stay in Vancouver as we started, enjoying the company of our good friends Jas and Jenny.
