Nicely updated to a non-descript (supposedly Parisian), run-down apartment and market place, where was the passion and tension that fuels Paris today? Hye Seoung Kwon (Mimi) sang beautifully of love, desertion and dying. But where were the men? Too often overwhelmed by the orchestra and too busy being disaffected. A disappointing production that lays out Mimi’s fate too soon, leaving us waiting for her demise. And why a minute’s breakdancing – to break the tedium?
