The Age I’m In (2.5/5)
Kate Champion, Sydney Festival, Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House
12th January 2008
Champion’s choreography was flowing; her dancers (from a young teen to old folks) showed great skill in mimicking pre-recorded oral stories from the very young to the very old, then translating these emotions to dance. Seemingly focused on family and women. Why was the old man left unexplored? Why portray AIDS and breast cancer as the sole the threats to a good life? A pleasurable hour of dance with too many sub-plots for true satisfaction.
